The Porsche 912 was introduced in 1965 as an economical alternative to the 911. In 1966, the first Targa models were equipped with a zippered rear window, the so-called soft window. Later, the soft window was replaced by a fixed rear window with only a removable roof panel. With the success of the 911 Targa, Porsche decided to produce the 912 Targa, but the 912 was never as successful as Porsche had hoped, so only 2,500 cars were built in total. It is estimated that only 150 of those 2,500 cars have survived, making it a very precious piece for lovers of the brand.
This Porsche 912 Soft Window Targa was delivered to its first owner in California in February 1968, where it has remained until its current owner acquired it. Fully restored to detail in 2017, and with an archive of photographic documentation.
The finishes have been done maintaining its originality, both in the interior and its Tangerine colour on the exterior. All the glass and chrome are in excellent condition, as well as the targa top and the rear window.
Its engine and gearbox are original and numbers matching.
This car comes with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity (COA).
